Level 1: Debate Fundamentals
Course Objectives:
- Core Skills Development: Students will learn the basics of constructing core arguments, refutation, and understanding speaker roles. They will also focus on constructing a coherent case.
- Argument Development: The emphasis will be on making claims, providing evidence, and explaining reasoning clearly.
- Research Skills: Basic techniques for evidence gathering will be taught.
- Debate Etiquette: Understanding the rules of engagement, respectful discourse, and active listening.
- Delivery Fundamentals: Training in voice control, body language, and effective speaking.
- Practice Debates: Engaging in simple, guided debates on non-controversial topics with peer and instructor feedback sessions.
Program Structure and Pricing- Semester-Based:Each level is designed to be completed in one semester.
- Class Duration: 2 hours per session.
- Class Size: 4-10 students per class.
- Assessment: Advancement to the next level is based on an evaluation at the end of each semester.
